Healthgrades releases 2021 patient safety excellence award winners

Healthgrades, the leading online resource for information about physicians and hospitals, has recently released the recipients of its 2021 Patient Safety Excellence Award. This prestigious award recognizes healthcare facilities that have demonstrated exceptional patient care and safety practices.

To determine the winners, Healthgrades analyzed patient safety data from over 4,500 hospitals across the United States for the years 2017 to 2019. The data included information related to 14 different patient safety indicators, such as surgical complications, hospital-acquired infections, and pressure ulcers.

The facilities that received the award were those that ranked in the top 10% for patient safety, as determined by the analysis. In total, 456 hospitals were recognized for their commitment to providing excellent and safe care to their patients.

Among the winners were some of the most well-respected hospitals in the country, such as the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. These institutions have long been known for their commitment to patient safety and their willingness to implement innovative practices that improve outcomes for their patients.

In addition to these large healthcare systems, the awards also recognized smaller, regional hospitals in communities across the country. These facilities may not have the same national recognition as some of the larger institutions, but they are just as committed to providing excellent care to their patients.

The Patient Safety Excellence Award is not just a recognition of past accomplishments, but also a call to action for hospitals to continue improving their patient care and safety practices. By recognizing the best practices of these facilities, Healthgrades hopes to inspire other hospitals to adopt similar strategies to improve patient outcomes.

As patients become more involved in their own healthcare decisions, it is essential that healthcare facilities prioritize patient safety and provide transparent and accessible information about their practices. Healthgrades’ Patient Safety Excellence Award helps patients make informed decisions about their healthcare and encourages hospitals to prioritize patient safety.

In a year that has seen unprecedented challenges for healthcare facilities, the recipients of the 2021 Patient Safety Excellence Award have demonstrated that it is possible to provide exceptional care and maintain high standards for patient safety even in the face of adversity. As the healthcare industry continues to evolve, it is essential that we celebrate and learn from these institutions that are setting the standard for patient care and safety.…
